These AeroGarden accessories will make growing fresh herbs and veggies in your hydroponic garden easier and much more fun! They also make great gifts for AeroGarden aficionados.
Gardening is hard, and indoor gardening can be even harder. Especially if you don't have windows that get a lot of sunlight. That's why I love my AeroGarden. I usually have it growing basil for lemon basil feta rice, jalapeños for one-avocado guacamole, and oregano for topping chicken marsala pizza.
What's an AeroGarden? An AeroGarden is a hydroponic (water based) garden with a light hood on an automatic cycle that makes growing herbs, flowers, and even veggies like tomatoes and peppers super easy.
Whether you already have one or are planning to jump on an AeroGarden Black Friday deal — once you bring home your hydroponic garden you'll want to make sure you've got everything you need so your plants can truly thrive.
From decorative spacers to add a bit of personality while protecting your water tank from algae and dust to 3-D printed grow cages to give your plants a little extra support, there are a few special AeroGarden accessories that can really take your hydroponic gardening skills to the next level.
1. This Aerogarden cover helps speed up the germination process
Not only does this mylar-lined Aerogarden hood reflect 30% more light back at your plants as they germinate, it also keeps the light contained and pets out!
This is one of those AeroGarden accessories that is good for your garden, but also good for your sleep cycle and pets. It's perfect for those with small living spaces who find it hard to avoid the light at night, or who have cats and dogs who just can't help wanting a taste of the greenery.
2. These 3-D printed label rings so you can always remember what's what
Sure the seed pods you get in most kits come with labels, but for anyone who's moved on to a "grow anything" kit or who just has trouble reading the finer print (especially once the garden gets crowded), these Aerogarden labels will help you remember exactly what's growing where.
3. This 3-D printed Aerogarden grow pod support system
Some plants, like some people, just need a little extra love and support. Delicate herbs like parsley, chives, and cilantro are prone to growing over the sides of the Aerogarden. Or worse, growing into each other!
This 3-D Printed grow cage will help your plants grow upright and keep them from getting all tangled up in each other. Much better (and less absorbent) than the toilet paper tubes I used to use instead.
4. This insert turns a wide mouth mason jar into a propagation station
One of the best ways to get robust and thriving plants in your AeroGarden with lots of leaves and branches is to TRIM, TRIM, TRIM. But don't let those cuttings go to waste!
Pick up one of these lid insert and turn a wide mouth mason jar into a propagation station so you can let those cuttings keep growing. Once the plants have about an inch or two of roots, transfer them into potted soil, or give them their own jar or water vase to thrive in.
Many people don't know to prune their plants once the stems are a few inches tall. You don't want 5 basil plants trying to fit into one small seed pod space. Pulling out a few of them (with the roots intact) while they're still small, and popping them in water to propagate gives your plants plenty of room to grow and ensures none go to waste.
5. This large water reservoir helps keep your Aerogarden tank full of fresh water
As far as AeroGarden accessories go, this reservoir is a must-have, imo. When you first set up your Aerogarden you might find yourself refilling the water basin once a week.
As your plants grow, they need more water and more nutrients, and you might find yourself refilling it every other day. That's where this sleek, easy to use Aerogarden reservoir comes in handy.
If you're planning to grow vegetables like tomatoes or peppers in your hydroponic garden, or thirsty fast-growing herbs like basil, you'll definitely want one of these Aerovoirs.
The vertical height and narrow width of this 1.3 gallon water reservoir means it takes up little additional space on your counter and slides in neatly next to your Aerogarden.
It saves you precious time and allows your garden to go longer between water refills — adding as much as four weeks of time between refills, depending on what you've got planted.
6. These decorative spacer caps add some color to any empty garden spaces
Plants need plenty of room to grow, which means even in the 7-9 pod Aerogarden models, you often have some empty slots. To prevent algae from growing in the water, which would happen if you left them open for the light to get in, you'll need some spacer covers.
These colorful text graphic spacers are fun and decorative! Like stickers but for your plants.
7. Or try these white spacer caps for a more minimalistic look
If you prefer your Aerogarden have a modern, monochromatic look, these white spacer lids come in a set of 5 and are perfect for the newer Aerogarden models with the white tops.
Use these to space out your plants and to protect the water basin from light, dust, and pests!
8. This easy to install kit will elevate your light hood to accommodate taller plants
When selecting an Aerogarden model I always recommend looking for one with an extra tall light hood to give your plants maximum potential for upward growth. But if even the tallest light hood isn't enough for the indoor gardening you're planning in your Aerogarden Harvest, you may want to consider getting a hanging light hood extender.
The easy-to-use kit comes with everything you need to suspend the LED light hood from the ceiling above your plants giving them as much room as they need to grow.
The higher height also means the light can hit a wider radius around the Aerogarden base. Keep any other potted plants nearby so they can also benefit from the automated light cycle!
9. This "bee" inspired pollinator to maximize your plants' growth
UPDATE 6/10/2024: It appears as though AeroGarden is no longer selling it's "bee the bee" pollinator wand, but you can find other similar pollinator wands online.
When you grow veggies like tomatoes or peppers indoors with a hydroponic garden, they obviously aren't going to have helpful bees or a nice breeze to carry the pollen from one flower to another.
Indoors, if your AeroGarden sits near an open window or is in a room with a fan or active air currents, those air currents will help. But if you don't have an open window or air currents around your AeroGarden, this cleverly designed "be the bee" pollinator wand puts the power of pollination in your hands.
Simply touch the pollinator from one flower to another, pushing the button to blow the collected pollen onto the flowers. According to AeroGarden's tests, this has been shown to increase the yield of cherry tomato plants by 300%!
10. These black 3-D printed spacers are designed to keep circulating water where it's needed most
Some Aerogarden models have water spouts in each pod space to deliver fresh running water to every seed pod while the pump is running. When you place a spacer in one of those holes and the dam isn't blocked, the water continues running through the spout.
Using these 3-D printed covers with built-in notches to plug the spouts ensures the water and nutrients are going only to slots that are in use, while also protecting the water basin from algae and pests.
As you can tell, in the world of AeroGarden accessories, there are plenty of spacer and cover options. It's really up to you which one makes the most sense for your garden!
11. These decorative decals to personalize your garden
Personalize your Aerogarden with a fun vinyl decal! There are lots of options to choose from on Etsy so you can be sure to find one that fits your specific Aerogarden model. There are even ones designed for the large Aerogarden Farms!
12. A pack of soft tie to give your plants a little extra support without hurting them
As your plants grow, they often have trouble holding themselves upright. Earlier I shared the small 3-D printed grow cages which are perfect for smaller delicate herbs like cilantro, thyme, and oregano. But when you've got a hefty tomato plant buckling under its own weight, you'll want to have this Garden Soft Tie on hand.
There's wire running through the soft, thick, slightly squishy thread so you don't need to have the knot-tying experience of a former scout or sailor to use it. Just cut the length you need and twist the ends together to hold it in place.
You can use these soft tie pieces over and over again, and they work just as well in an outdoor garden, so don't throw them out when you reset your AeroGarden!
13. These nifty adapters help you re-grow scallion butts in your AeroGarden pod slots
There are no seed pods to let you grow green onions in your AeroGarden, but you can use the hydroponic garden to re-grow scallion ends thanks to these handy pod inserts!
Each one is 3-D Printed with a nontoxic and biodegradable material known as PLA and can hold one scallion.
14. Give your plants some friends with these 3-D printed AeroGarden spacer buddies
Add some friends to your Aerogarden with these 3-D printed spacer buddies! They come in a variety of colors and are such a fun way to add a bit of personality to your Aerogarden.
Choose between a snoozing kitty, a stout garden gnome, or Evee from Pokemon. They'll stand guard over any seed pod slots you're not currently using, keeping them safe from dust, pests, and algae.
15. Direct your plants to grow where you want them with this handy growth manipulation kit
Okay, I'm gonna level with you. Based on the other photos from this listing, I'm pretty sure this Growth Manipulation Training kit is intended less for herbs and veggies and more for, uh... a very specific type of weed... known colloquially as, well, weed.
But when your AeroGarden starts getting crowded and you need help directing the thick, woody-stemmed plants to stay out of each others' way, these clever L-shaped pieces are just the right tool for the job. They're also helpful if you have any plants getting a little sunburned too close to the light!
16. Bring your best Jurassic Park dreams to life with this 3-D printed AeroGarden T-Rex skull cover
I am T-REX hear me ROAR! You've heard enough from me about the importance of having spacers or covers for any unused AeroGarden slots, but I just couldn't leave this one off the list — who doesn't love dinosaurs? This is rad and will definitely add a lot of personality to your indoor herb garden.
