Rebecca Eisenberg
Hi, I'm Rebecca — a certified pastry chef with a home cook mentality and a deep love for helping people feel confident in the kitchen.
My journey into the culinary world started as a hobby back in 2014, when I picked up breadmaking while working from home, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I started The Practical Kitchen in 2019 and in January 2021, I graduated as Valedictorian from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts with a Certificate in Pastry Arts, after nearly a decade working as a journalist, writer, and editor.

In 2019, I left my job in tech and media, burned out and ready for a reset. I began freelancing, and in my spare time, launched The Practical Kitchen to share recipes, explore food writing, and see if developing my own recipes from scratch and writing about food was something I wanted to pursue professionally. (Spoiler alert: it was.)
Read more about The Practical Kitchen here.
Pastry school gave me the foundational skills and baking science know-how I needed, and today, I combine everything I've learned to bring you approachable, well-tested recipes that fit into real-life routines.
As someone with ADHD, I’m passionate about practical techniques, tools that actually make a difference, and keeping things fun and low-stress in the kitchen. I do all the baking in our house, while my husband Jimmy and I share the cooking — he often even helps me with recipe development! You have him to thank for my guide to homemade hot sauce!
When I’m not in the kitchen, you can find me playing video games, exploring Boston’s local markets, reading, watching trashy reality TV, and hanging out with Jimmy, our daughter Mabel, and our cat Clementine.
