Combine orange zest and sugar in the bowl of your stand mixer. Use your fingers to rub the zest into the sugar.
In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream, orange pulp, and orange juice.
Cream together softened butter and orange infused sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after adding each one.
Add half the dry ingredients and mix on low speed just until combined.
Add the orange sour cream mixture and again mix on low speed just until combined.
Add the rest of the dry ingredients, and mix on low speed until just a few streaks remain. Finish mixing by hand.
Transfer the orange cake batter to a lined loaf pan. Smooth out the top.
Optional: Arrange a line of butter down the middle to control where the cake cracks open.
Mandatory: Bake until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs clinging to it.
Once the cake is cool, make the orange icing glaze by whisking together orange juice, zest, and powdered sugar.
Pour the icing glaze over the cooled cake, smoothing it out in an even layer.
