This easy spiced cranberry jam is the perfect treat for cranberry season!
Can your jam properly and you can enjoy it all year round!
Cook cranberries over medium heat, stirring and mashing with a wooden spoon until they start to burst and release juices.
Reduce heat to low and use an immersion blender (optional) to break the cranberries down further for a smoother jam.
Add sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and orange zest. Bring the heat back to medium and stir well to dissolve the sugar.
Bring the jam to a low boil, stirring constantly until your desired consistency is reached. (See full recipe for tips on how to check this!)
To preserve cranberry jam for long term storage, transfer hot jam to a sanitized glass jar. Remove any bubbles, wipe the rim clear, and put the lid on "fingertip tight."
Submerge jar in a pot of boiling water and cover with a tight fitting lid for 10 mins at a sustained boil.
Make sure the top of the jar is covered by at least 1" of water.
Remove the jar from the pot and wait for the lid to "pop" flat. Tighten the lid as the jar cools. (See blog post for what to do if the lid doesn't flatten!)
Enjoy! This spiced cranberry jam is so good on toast, but is also great on a holiday table or as a DIY holiday gift!
