These everything bagels are so easy and tasty! You can make them in less than 3 hours.
Unlike most everything bagel recipes, they have everything bagel seasoning mixed right into the dough.
This recipe works best with a salt-free everything bagel seasoning so the added salt doesn't mess with the dough..
Mix, then knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. Cover and rest for 1 hour.
Deflate the dough, then knead it back into a ball. Let it rest 10 more minutes.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces using a kitchen scale*. Shape them into balls.
With floured hands, poke a hole through the bottom of each dough ball. Stretch gently until the center is wider than the sides.
Boil the bagels for 1 minute per side. Use a wire spider* to flip and remove them without splashing.
Brush with egg wash and carefully dip the tops in everything bagel seasoning.
The topping is optional since there is everything bagel seasoning in the dough! Don't skip the egg wash, it makes the bagels shiny and helps them brown.
Bake for 20 minutes at 425F. Let cool before slicing.
Bagels are best eaten within 2-3 days but can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
